- The Sight & Sound's 100 Greatest Films
- The Time's 100 Greatest Films
- The Total Film's 100 Greatest Films
- The Village Voice's 100 Best Films
The final list is a combination of the best of all of these lists. It is a consensus of the best animated films of all time, as voted by the most respected film critics and historians in the world.
A Wooden Puppet Yearns to Be a Real Boy
The most popular animated film on the list is Pinocchio, which was released in 1940 by Walt Disney Productions. The film tells the story of a wooden puppet who is brought to life by the Blue Fairy. Pinocchio is a kind and loving boy, but he is often tempted by the evil Gepetto. In the end, Pinocchio learns the value of truth and sacrifice, and he becomes a real boy.
