Amds Roadmap Unveiled

AMD's Zen 4 APUs Are Coming: Dragon Range and Phoenix

AMD's Roadmap Unveiled

At its recent Financial Analyst Day, AMD unveiled its roadmap for 2022 and 2023, providing a glimpse into the future of its Zen 4 architecture. Among the highlights were the upcoming Dragon Range and Phoenix mobile APUs, which are set to replace AMD's existing Ryzen 6000 series.

Dragon Range: A Gaming Powerhouse

The Dragon Range APUs are designed for high-performance gaming laptops. They will feature up to 16 cores and 32 threads, making them the most powerful mobile gaming CPUs ever. They will also have a massive amount of cache, with up to 80MB of L3 cache and 16MB of L2 cache. This will give them a significant performance advantage over previous-generation APUs.

Phoenix: Powering Thin Laptops

The Phoenix APUs are designed for thin and light laptops. They will feature up to 8 cores and 16 threads and will have a more modest amount of cache than the Dragon Range APUs. However, they will still be significantly more powerful than the current Ryzen 6000 APUs. Both the Dragon Range and Phoenix APUs will be based on AMD's Zen 4 architecture, which offers a number of improvements over the previous-generation Zen 3 architecture. These improvements include: * A 5nm manufacturing process, which reduces power consumption and heat output * A new core design that improves performance and efficiency * A new cache hierarchy that reduces latency and improves bandwidth * Support for DDR5 memory, which offers faster speeds and lower power consumption The Dragon Range and Phoenix APUs are expected to be released in the second half of 2022. They will be a major upgrade over the current Ryzen 6000 APUs and will offer a significant performance advantage for both gaming and productivity tasks.
