Houston Astros' Alvarez, Valdez Lead Team to Victory Over Arizona Diamondbacks

Astros Continue Winning Ways with 6-2 Victory

The Houston Astros extended their winning streak to four games with a 6-2 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday night at Minute Maid Park. Yordan Álvarez led the way for the Astros, going 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs. Framber Valdez was also impressive on the mound, allowing just one run on two hits over six innings of work.

Álvarez's Home Run Gives Astros Early Lead

Álvarez put the Astros on the board in the first inning with a solo home run off Diamondbacks starter Merrill Kelly. It was Álvarez's 10th home run of the season and gave the Astros an early 1-0 lead.

Valdez Dominates Diamondbacks Lineup

Valdez was in control from the start, retiring the first nine batters he faced. He allowed just one hit through the first four innings and didn't allow a runner to reach scoring position until the fifth inning. Valdez finished the night with six strikeouts and no walks, earning his fourth win of the season.

Astros Add to Lead with Timely Hitting

The Astros added to their lead in the third inning when Alex Bregman singled home Martín Maldonado. They scored again in the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly by Kyle Tucker and in the sixth inning on a single by Álvarez.

Diamondbacks Rally Falls Short

The Diamondbacks finally got on the board in the seventh inning when Carson Kelly hit a solo home run off Astros reliever Ryne Stanek. They added another run in the eighth inning on a sacrifice fly by Geraldo Perdomo, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Astros' lead.

Astros Improve to 14-10, Diamondbacks Fall to 10-15

With the win, the Astros improve to 14-10 on the season and remain in first place in the AL West. The Diamondbacks fall to 10-15 and are now in fourth place in the NL West.
