Mclaren A Long Way Off The Pace In Baku Rues Norris

McLaren a long way off the pace in Baku, rues Norris

McLaren are "a long way off the pace" at the Baku Grand Prix, according to Lando Norris.

The British driver could only qualify 11th for Sunday's race, while team-mate Daniel Ricciardo was down in 13th.

It is the first time this season that McLaren have failed to get both cars into the top 10.

Norris said: "We're a long way off the pace. We're not where we want to be."

The 22-year-old admitted that he was "disappointed" with his qualifying performance.

"I didn't do a good enough job," he said. "I made a few mistakes and I didn't get the most out of the car."

Ricciardo was also disappointed with his result.

"It was a tough day," he said. "We're just not quick enough at the moment."

McLaren have had a difficult start to the season, with Norris scoring just 35 points in the first six races.

The team is currently eighth in the constructors' championship, behind Alpine and Aston Martin.

Norris said that McLaren need to "work hard" to improve their performance.

"We need to find some more pace," he said. "We need to understand the car better and we need to work together as a team."

McLaren will be hoping to improve their results in Baku on Sunday.

The race will be broadcast live on Sky Sports F1.
