Current Restrictions

In response to the surge in cases, Governor Kathy Hochul has implemented a number of restrictions, including a statewide mask mandate in all indoor public places. Additionally, all healthcare workers are required to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

Vaccination Rates

As of August 24th, 2023, 77.2% of New Yorkers have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, and 71.2% have completed their vaccination series. The state is continuing to encourage vaccinations as the best way to protect against severe illness and death from COVID-19.

Hospitalizations and Deaths

The surge in cases has led to an increase in hospitalizations and deaths. As of August 24th, 2023, there are 4,567 people hospitalized with COVID-19 in New York State, and 122 deaths have been reported in the past 24 hours.
